Ford issued recall #14s05 for a known problem with power steering shutting off while driving. The problem is that the recall does not fix the issue and for those who have brought their vehicle in to be serviced for the recall and think their vehicle is safe, they are NOT.

Several months after having the service performed on my vehicle, I had to bring it in because the power steering failed twice on back to back days on both myself and my wife with children in the car. The car was suddenly not maneuverable making for both a scary and highly dangerous situation. Concern number one, these vehicles are no more safer than before, the recall policy and procedure is a joke and fixed nothing. Concern number two, Ford has deceived the public in thinking that their recall properly addresses their manufacturing flaw, it does not.

To add insult to injury Ford will not own up to the proper fix but instead insists that owners pay for replacing the steering column on a known issue for which they issued a recall but actually never fixed. Also, when I called Ford customer relations the first time, the representative told me that they would fix the car "free of charge". Several days later the service department at Nalley Ford Sandy Springs told me they received no such directive. So their customer service also lied to me.

Based on these multiple failures in customer treatment, this once proud multi-Ford owner will never trust Ford again. The NHTSA needs to step up and hold Ford to a real fix as a matter of national highway and traffic safety and fairness to consumers.

Reason of review: terrible quality, terrible customer service, and being lied to.

Monetary Loss: $1295.

Preferred solution: issue a corrective recall, cover the full costs to repair in addition to the burden of finding alternative transportion while the vehicle is inoperable.

Ford Cons: Would not honor recall.

Location: Atlanta, Georgia
